In our assigned readings about gemstones, we have learned that minerals of different kinds and combinations are mined all around our planet and we thought it would be interesting to see how many gemstone sources we could map. Maps were prepared by continent and an additional world map was prepared as well.

In seeking locations of mines, we also found excellent gemstone imagery for use by the general public and that imagery was integral in the development of the Test Your Knowledge portion of our project. After browsing our maps, test your knowledge about gems on our gameboard with gem descriptions.

We hope you enjoy our project as much as we enjoyed creating it.
